PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transmission/reception method by which transmission and reception of data between a remote location and an electronic scale can be performed by using the general purpose software of a personal computer. SOLUTION: The server function part of a local area network(LAN) is provided integrally with an electronic scale device 1 and a homepage for making external equipment transmit and receive the data (unit price data, sum-up data, error history data and the specification data of electronic scale, etc.), to and from the electronic scale is stored in a memory managed by the server function part. The external equipment such as a personal computer is connected through the Internet or by dial-up connection to the electronic scale or the LAN connected to the electronic scale, the homepage is accessed by a browser for the Internet and the data are transmitted to and received from the electronic scale through the homepage.
