The control system has an accelerator pedal switch (46) for detecting the extent to which the pedal (36) is depressed, an actuator for actuating a choke flap (32) in accordance with electrical signals from an ECU, an accelerator traction roller (40) mounted on a choke flap shaft (34) and an accelerator traction chord (38) with one end wound around the roller and the other end connected to the accelerator pedal, whereby the actuator is mounted directly on the choke flap shaft.
