An IC engine supplies charging air while a sample is branched off from the airflow into a first fraction (17), which contains only the droplet free air. A second fraction (18) contains the water of the sample. A smaller air component is divided up, in which case then the pressure of the second fraction (18) is lowered and then its/their temperature compared with the input temperature of the sample.
