PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ISDN terminal for appropriately and efficiently saving energy. SOLUTION: Facsimile equipment checks whether or not a D channel frame is received by a D-channel transmission control part 23 in a waiting state, and when the D-channel frame is not received within a normal time, the facsimile equipment determines which state of the activation/inactivation of a layer 1 is detected by a layer 1 signal control part 24. When the inactivation of the layer 1 is detected, the layer 1 signal control part 24 is set, so that the activation of the layer 1 can be communicated when the layer is activated, and each part of the facsimile equipment 1 other than the layer 1 signal control part 24 is set in an energy saving mode, and finally a system controlling part 9 itself is turned into the energy saving mode. Also, when the activation of the layer 1 is detected, the D-channel transmission control part 23 is set, so that the detection of the D-channel frame can be communicated to the system control part 9, when the D-channel frame is detected, and each part other than the layer 1 signal control part 24 and the D-channel transmission controlling part 23 is set in the energy save mode, and the system controlling part 9 itself is turned into the energy save mode.
