PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid vacuum discharge caused by static charge by detecting an anode current from high voltage impressed on an anode electrode, stopping impression of a high voltage source when electrostatic eliminating drive is required, and driving only an element driving voltage to restrain increase of potential on an electron substrate. SOLUTION: A controller circuit 3 receives a control signal and a data bus from a computer 2, and performs an aging process. A high voltage is impressed from a high voltage power supply 8 to a high voltage terminal on the face plate side. A current value of row-direction wiring is detected by a current detecting circuit 5 and is fed as If data into the controller circuit 3, next, in an anode current detecting circuit 7, during aging, an anode current flowing every row-direction wiring is detected, and is fed as Ie data into the controller circuit 3.
