SYNTHESIS OF α-AMINO-α',α'-DIHALOKETONES AND PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF β-AMINO ACID DERIVATIVES BY THE USE OF THE SAME

An optically active β-amino acid ester derivative can be efficiently prepared on an industrial scale by reacting a α-amino acid ester derivative with a base and a dihalomethane to prepare a α-amino-α',α'-dihaloketone derivative, reacting this derivative with lithium amide and an alkyllithium successively, and then treating the obtained product with an acid in an alcohol.
