<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a snow melting device provided with a solar cell and an operating/controlling method thereof, where a complicated snow depth/ snowmelt detecting sensor can be dispensed with, and the snow melting device is capable of automatically starting or stopping a snow melting operation. SOLUTION: In a normal operation, a DC power generated by solar cell strings 11 to 1n is outputted to an inverter 61 through reverse current blocking diodes 21 to 2n. The DC power is converted into an AC power by the inverting action of the inverter 61 and supplied to a system 71. On the other hand, a temperature sensor 41 is installed at a solar cell 1 to measure the temperature of the solar cell 1. A solar cell is not in operation, and when a control function provided in the inverter 61 judges that a measured temperature indicates a snow cover temperature, the inverter 61 converts an AC power supplied through the system 71 into a DC current by its inverting action, and the converted DC current is supplied to the strings 11 to 1n through contactors 31 to 3n which are turned closed from an open state. The solar cells 1 are heated by a supplied power to melt snow.</p> |
