PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photoreceptor which is low in wavelength dependency of the sensitivity in the wavelength region of 380-500 nm, has high sensitivity characteristics and is small in environmental dependency of the sensitivity by incorporating a phthalocyanine pigment and a specific azo pigment into a charge generating material. SOLUTION: The charge generating material used in the electrophotographic photoreceptor contains a phthalocyanine pigment and an azo compound of formula I, wherein Ar is an aromatic hydrocarbon group or heterocyclic group, which may bond directly or through a bonding group and may have a substituent, Cp is a coupler residue having a phenolic hydroxy group and expressed by formula II. In the formulas I and II, n is an integer of 1-3; R1 is hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group or the like; R2 is an alkyl group or an aryl group; R3 is a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or the like, j is 0, 1 or 2, and when j=2, R3 may be different each other.
