PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for the formation of color transfer diffusion photographic images which does not produce stains after peeling in a peel-apart method by using an alkaline treating compsn. containing at least one kind of specified compd. to treat a photosensitive element. SOLUTION: In the method for the formation of color transfer diffusion photographic images, a photosensitive element is treated by using an alkaline treating compsn. containing at least one kind of compd. expressed by the formula. In the formula, R is a hydrogen atom, unsubstd. alkyl group or -L2-A2, each of L1 and L2 is an alkylene group, each of A1 and A2 is a carboxyl group, sulfo group, phosphono group, phosphinate group or its salt, alkoxycarbonyl group, aryloxycarbonyl group, carbamoyl group, acylamino group, sulfamoyl group, sulfonylamino group, alkylthio group, cyano group, ureido group or ammonio group.
