PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polishing and decontaminating method using magnetic oscillation for solving problems of workability, decontamination efficiency, secondary waste, necessary peripheral equipment, and economy in decontamination of radioactive contaminant generated from nuclear facilities. SOLUTION: In this decontamination method of radioactive contaminant and a device thereof using magnetic oscillation processing, a magnetic polishing material impregnated with etchant and provided with strong polishing power is positioned in the part contaminated with a radioactive contaminant in an object to be decontaminated, and the contaminated part is strongly brushed and polished from the surface by changing the magnetic pole of the external magnetic field periodically. Because of synergistic effect of the brushing motion and the coexistent etchant of the magnetic polishing material on the contaminated part surface, even stubborn radioactive contaminant can be removed with high efficiency. A large-size contaminated object such as a steam generator in a pressurized water type nuclear reactor and stubborn contaminant, which are difficult to decontaminate according to a conventional method, can be efficiently decontaminated in this way.
