DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONVERTING CHARACTER CODE AND COMPUTER READABLE RECORDING MEDIUM RECORDED WITH CHARACTER CODE CONVERSION PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character code converting device with which a user can process document data including different type characters with high operability without fluctuating document contents. SOLUTION: This character code converting device has a different type character dictionary 28 recording the KANJI (Chinese character) of a first KANJI group and the KANJI of a second KANJI group according to a different type character relation. A different type character converting part 27 and a replacing part 34 convert a prescribed character string in a document inside a document buffer 26 to a character string resulting from replacing the KANJI in any designated one of first and second KANJI groups in that prescribed character string with the other KANJI in the different type character relation shown in the dictionary 28. A character string retrieving part 33 retrieves the other character string coincident with the prescribed character string out of the document and the replacing part 34 applies character string replacing processing to the retrieved character string while using the character string converted by the converting part 27.
