PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly detect water leakage to liquid metal due to breakage in a heat transmitting tube in a steam generator used in a liquid metal cooling type fast reactor while securing a high S/N rate. SOLUTION: This water leakage detector is provided with a wave guide 32 mounted through a steam generator used in a liquid metal cooling type fast reactor for transmitting ultrasonic waves, a ultrasonic wave transmitting means 34 transmitting ultrasonic waves to the wave guide 32 via a piezoelectric element 33, an ultrasonic wave receiving means 35 receiving ultrasonic waves corresponding to a resonance characteristic of the wave guide 32 via the piezoelectric element 33, a signal processing means 36 analyzing a resonance characteristic of the wave guide 32 on the basis of the signal transmitted from the ultrasonic wave transmitting means 34 and the signal received by the ultrasonic wave receiving means 35, and a water leakage determining means 37 determining water leakage in the steam generator from the resonance characteristic analyzed by the signal processing means 36.
