PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection unit and a light source device which can cope with the various kinds of endoscopes, whose structure is simple and by which unnecessary radiation can be reduced. SOLUTION: An electronic endoscope device 100 is provided with the light source device 1 and the endoscope 2 freely attached or detached with respect to the light source device 1. The light source device 1 is constituted by a light source device main body 10 and a first-stage signal processing circuit substrate 3 freely attached or detached with respect to the main body 10. The circuit substrate 3 is provided with a substrate 38. Then, the substrate 38 is provided with a first-stage signal processing circuit, a ROM, a card edge for electrically connecting the substrate 3 and the main body 10, a scope connector 14 for electrically connecting the substrate 3 and the endoscope 2, and an aperture for a light guide 15.
