ARRAY OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE OPTICAL SWITCH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized array optical waveguide optical switch. SOLUTION: This array optical waveguide optical switch is provided with a first slab optical waveguide 14 connecting a channel optical waveguide 11 for common port to the channel optical waveguide array 12 for phase shifter, a second slab optical waveguide 15 connecting the channel optical waveguide 13 for branch port to the channel optical waveguide array 12 for phase shifter and the phase shifter (first heater heating area 16, second heater heating area 17) consisting of a part of the channel optical waveguide array 12 for phase shifter. An optical path length from one of the channel optical waveguide 11 for common port to one point on the end surface of the second slab optical waveguide 15 in the channel optical waveguide 13 for branch port side is fixed regardless of the optical waveguide constituting the channel optical waveguide array 12 for phase shifter before the phase shifter is driven. The phase shifter is provided with the shape successively imparting a fixed optical path length difference for the thing adjacent to the optical waveguide constituting the channel optical waveguide array 12 for phase shifter.
