PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter for a camera with a blade supporting constitution capable of miniaturizing the shutter and also capable of accomplishing the stable actuation of a slit forming blade. SOLUTION: A 2nd blade group is provided with an auxiliary arm 24, in addition to two arms 17 and 18 pivotally attached to a shutter base plate 1, blades 20, 21, 22 and 23. Besides, the auxiliary arm 24 is pivotally supported on the arms 17 and 18 by connection shafts 25 and 26, and the arm 24 nearly obliquely projects into an upper left direction and the arm 24 is attached to the leading end of the extending part of the blade 22 by a connection shaft 27. Then, the left, area of the slit forming blade 23 is partly held between the auxiliary arm 24 and the blade 22 in any actuating state, then, an irregular actuation phenomenon is effectively suppressed.
