PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fuse-connect spice optical fibers varying in mode field diameter to each other with low connection loss by arbitrarily expanding heating regions in such a case the optical fibers are fusion spliced to each other. SOLUTION: The coated fiber part 11 of the one optical fiber 10 is fixed by a V-groove member 13 and a fiber clamp 14 and its sheath part 12 is fixed by a sheath clamp 16, by which the optical fiber 10 is positioned and fixed to the top end of a center alignment arm 15. This center alignment arm 15 is fixed to a moving block 17 moving in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber on a moving block 27. A center alignment arm 25 positioned and fixed with another optical fiber 20 by the V-groove member 23, the fiber clamp 24 and the sheath clamp 26 is fixed onto the moving block 27 moving in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber on a base part 31. |
