In one embodiment the braiding-machine comprises two concentric circles of horn gears b, e and fixed diverter plates g, i coaxial with the gears and providing tracks with the aid of star plates k and guide plates m, n through which two series of bobbin carriers pass in opposite circular directions. The horn gears b have five notches, the inner circle of gears e having three notches. Each of the horn gears has a passage w, and each star plate a passage x, through which a wire can be passed to enable the machine to produce multi-core electric cable. The bobbin carriers comprise a bobbin-carrying spindle o which is prevented from rotating when a pawl p engages a ratchet wheel r. The yarn passes from a bobbin o<SP>1</SP> through a guide 20, under a movable guide pulley 11 movable on a spindle 13, over a fixed pulley 12, under another pulley movable with pulley 11 and thence through a guide v to the collecting head. When the yarn is under sufficient tension the movable pulleys rise up spindle 13 and the pawl p is removed from the ratchet wheel r. The base of the carrier has a groove t into which the edges of the track-forming plates fit. In a second embodiment three concentric circles of horn gears are employed, having respectively 5, 4 and 3 notches per gear, and there are four series of bobbin carriers, two series travelling in each direction-round the machine. |
