The oil separator is integrated in the drive chain pulley (3) of a camshaft (1). The chain pulley has a concentric chamber (4) defined by side and outside walls (6,7,5). The chamber is connected to an inlet opening (10) for the oil- laden blow-by gases and an outlet opening (11) for cleaned blow-by gases. It contains elements (12a) to guide the gases against its side wall and/or the outside wall. The outside wall has bores (16), which open into the contact area of the drive chain (17).
