A power transmission system capable of transmitting power to a load through otherwise unused, twisted-pair conductors in a multi-conductor, data transmission cable, the system comprising a voltage source with first and second voltage terminals, the first voltage terminal coupled to at least one first conductor and the second voltage terminal coupled to at least one second conductor and a voltage regulator with input terminals and output terminals, the input terminals coupled to at least the first and second conductors respectively at a location remote from the voltage source terminals and the voltage output terminals electrically coupled to the load, the voltage regulator delivering a regulated DC voltage to the load.
