An IC chip and a method for authenticating the other party capable of a contact or non-contact communication with a terminal in a network system; the IC chip comprising a receiving/transmitting means communicating with a host computer in contact or non-contact with a terminal, an IC means provided with an interface unit, an input/output means having a plurality of measuring and operating apparatuses and sensors connected to the interface unit of the IC means, and a power supply means consisting of a capacitor or battery, and being built in a terminal, measuring apparatus and portable item such as an IC card and cell phone. The method for authenticating the other party comprises a data conversion means for converting physical features input from sensors in the input/output means into ID-based ones, a relative storage means and a means for authenticating the other party. |
