PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize a length of the lead-out wiring part of a line direction or a row direction in an image display device, in which a plurality of surface conduction type emission elements are arranged so as to reduce the peripheral parts of the image display part as narrow as possible. SOLUTION: An image display device has an element substrate 1, in which m×n surface conduction type electron emission elements are connected by line direction wiring and row direction wiring to form a simple matrix structure, and a fluorescent screen, in which a phosphor and an anode electrode in a plane opposed to each the electron emission element are disposed at positions opposite to the element substrate 1. In the device, lead-out wiring lengths of a line direction wiring side and a row direction wiring side are obtained on the basis of an arranged position of a getter member 6 that is formed on a pixel area peripheral part, and a frame member width 12 used in vacuum sealing between the fluorescent screen and the element substrate 1, and a printing angleθat the matrix printing wiring.
