PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressurizing roller for a fixing device which is capable of efficiently fixing toners without the occurrence of wrinkling, deforming, etc., in paper and makes it possible to obtain high-grade images. SOLUTION: The pressurizing roller 1 for the fixing device having an arbor 2 which is composed of a rod-shaped body of a circular shape in cross section consisting of metal, such as stainless steel or aluminum, and a foam layer which is disposed on the peripheral surface of this arbor and consists of a silicone foam, polyurethane foam, etc., is obtained. The foam layer 3 has holes 3 of an elliptic shape and the major axes of the holes are in the diametral direction of the roller. The average major diameter changes gradually from the arbor side of the foam layer to the front layer 2 side. The average major axis is preferably 5 to 1000μm near the arbor of the foam layer 3 and 10 to 3000μm near the front layer. The foam layer is preferably an open cellular structure or semi-open cellular structure.
