PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a music reproducing system in which the rhythm components included in musical data are accurately analyzed and the result of the analysis is reflected into the display configuration of characters. SOLUTION: Favorite rhythm components are beforehand assigned to characters and furthermore, intrinsic figure display capabilities are also made correspond to the characters. A sound pressure data generating section 211 generates sound pressure data for plural frequency bands from musical data and a frequency band specifying section 212 specifies a frequency band in which rhythms are outstandingly produced. A rhythm estimating section 213 estimates rhythm components based on the changing period in the sound pressure data of the specified frequency band. A character control section 214 cumulatively varies the figure display capabilities in accordance with the degree of compatibility of the estimated rhythm components and the favorite rhythm components. A display control section 218 varies the display figures of the characters in accordance with the figure display capabilities while musical data are reproduced.
