PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator which is high in energy saving effect. SOLUTION: This refrigerator is provided with a middle door 22 for keeping warmth between the main body 12 of itself and an opening and closing door 14. When the user puts goods in the door pocket 18 on the side of the opening and closing door 14 or takes them out, it is so controlled as to close the middle door 22 to the side of the main body of the refrigerator. With this, this refrigerator can prevent the release (diffusion) of the chill from the side of the main body 12 of itself. This refrigerator is arranged so that the user can open and close it in condition that the middle door 22 fits on the side of the opening and closing door 14, when the user takes goods in and out of storage section 16 on the side of the refrigerator main body 12. By doing it so, the user can perform the taking in and out of the goods to the main body 12 of the refrigerator and also the side of a door pocket 18 does not touch directly with outside air, so the chill condition at this section never drops extremely. With this, energy saving effect can be expected. The opening and closing of the middle door 22 can be switched by the existence of the operation of the bush button 30 provided at the handle of the opening and closing door 14.
