A coating resin composition for metal sheets which comprises a polyester resin (A) having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.5 to 2.0 dl/g. a resin(B) exhibiting rubber-like elasticity and a vinyl polymer (C) containing units having polar groups in an amount of 1 wt. % or above, wherein the resin (B) is microdispersed in the resin (A) and at least part of the resin (B) is encapsuled with the polymer (C); resin films for covering metal sheets, made by using the composition; metal sheets covered with the films; and vessels produced by forming the covered metal sheets.
