The catalyser heating method controls the battery charging current and/or the battery charging voltage provided by the generator driven by the engine via a charge regulator, immediately after starting the engine, in dependence on the charge level of the battery and the temperature of the catalyser. The engine idling revs may be determined by the engine load required to provide the battery charging current from the generator, e.g. a crankshaft starter/generator. |
