摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the reflection of incident light or multiple reflection light from entering the precursor of a light-controlling layer in the production process of a liquid crystal optical device. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal optical device, the precursor 1 of a light-controlling layer 1 is held between two transparent substrates 3 with electrode layers 2 interposed. A transparent substance 13 is disposed as adhered to each light-entering face of the two transparent substrates 3. The precursor 1 of the light-controlling layer contains a precursor of a transparent resin and a liquid crystal material. In this structure, the precursor 1 is irradiated with laser beams 4 through the light-entering faces of the two transparent substances 13 by a two-beam interference method. The precursor 1 of the light-controlling layer forms a multilayered structure of transparent resin layers and liquid crystal material layers by the irradiation of beams to obtain the light-controlling layer 9 consisting of the multilayered structure. In this process, the thickness and form of the transparent substances 13 are determined so that once the reflected light and multiple reflection light 6 on the interfaces such as between transparent substrates 3 and electrode layers 2 enter the transparent substances 13, the light can not exits or be reflected on the light-entering faces and enter again the precursor 1 of the light-controlling layer.
