STAPLE CONJUGATE FIBER AND PRODUCTION OF STRETCHABLE NON-WOVEN FABRIC USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain staple conjugate fibers which substantially comprise a thermoplastic elastomer and have both high bulkiness and high stretchability. SOLUTION: This staple conjugate fiber comprises a thermoplastic elastomer(EL) and a hot water-soluble thermoplastic polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer(PVA), wherein the latter occupies at least 50% of the fiber surface, and has apparent crimps imparted thereto. The method for forming an elastic non-woven fabric comprises passing the group of the staple conjugate fibers through a card to form a web, dissolving away the PVA from the web and then topically forming fixed points for fixing the staple EL fibers to each other in the web.
