摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for a new quinolone compound industrially and economically advantageously in a high yield by reacting a fluoroethylene with a diazoacetic acid derivative in a specific temperature range under pressure conditions. SOLUTION: (A) A fluoroethylene of formula I (X is H or a halogen) is reacted with (B) a diazoacetic acid derivative of formula II (R is a 1-10C alkoxy, aryloxy, aralkyloxy or the like) in the presence of a catalyst [preferably a catalyst composed of a transition metal atom of the group 8 (preferably rhodium) and a ligand (preferably a carboxylic acid-based or an amide-based ligand) by using 0.8-2 mols of the component A based on 1 mol of the component B under pressure at 0-100 deg.C to give (C) a 2-fluorocyclopropanecarboxylic acid derivative of formula III. Consequently the amount of the component A used can be reduced and the objective compound is obtained in a high yield.
