PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacing paper insertion device which can surely insert the spacing paper into a steel band coil, without causing a wrinkle or a rupture on the spacing paper being slit. SOLUTION: This is a spacing paper insertion device for inserting a spacing paper 2a being slit into a steel band coil 7 when a steel band 6 being slit in multiple stripes is rolled up to be the steel band coil 7 by supplying a spacing paper 2 sent out from a paper pay-off reel 1 while splitting the paper 2 into multiple stripes with a spacing paper slitter 3. A belt bridle 4 which clamps a spacing paper 3a being slit with the slitter 3 is installed between the slitter 3 and the steel band coil 7. Out of multiple belts 4a, 4b lines of the belt bridle 4, a belt positioning at boundary of each stripe adjacent to the spacing paper 2a being slit is removed beforehand.
