PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that products corresponding to a door width are required even for a same-design door knob for a building and so the types are increased, freely change the mounting pitches of door fixed portions corresponding to the door width of the door to be mounted and reduce the types of the products. SOLUTION: A door knob for a building has two door fixed portions 5, 6 provided with a mounting structure to be fixed to a door face and a gripping rod 4 mounted to the door fixed portions 5, 6. The gripping rod 4 is provided with an expansive structure for adjusting the mounting pitches of the door fixed portions 5, 6 corresponding to the door width. The operation portion 4a of the gripping rod 4 is provided with a cylindrical part 4c and a core part 4d so that the gripping rod 4 can be expanded with the core part 4d being slidably fitted into the cylindrical part 4c.
