PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently extract oil by connecting a first opening section formed on a waste compressor to a water filling passage, connecting a second opening section to an oil recovering passage, filling water into the compressor from the first opening section to separate oil, and recovering the oil via the oil recovering passage. SOLUTION: When oil is to be extracted from a waste vertical compressor 1, an intake port 8 is used as a first opening section and is connected to a water filling passage 9. A discharge pipe 5 is used as a second opening section and is connected to an oil recovering passage 10. A heater 18 in a water storage tank 11 is heated, the stored water is heated to the prescribed temperature, e.g. 40-80 deg.C, then valves 14, 15 are opened, and a water filling pump 12 is driven to fill water into the compressor 1 from below. Most of the oil in the sealed container 2 of the compressor 1 is floated due to the density difference from water and is discharged to an oil reservoir 13 via the oil recovering passage 10. The oil in the oil reservoir 13 is recovered into the water storage tank 11 together with water.
