PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject method capable of sufficiently removing fiber wastes adhered to a bristle for a cutter without damaging the bristle with significantly reduced labor as well, resulting in considerable cost reduction, and simple in treatment operation. SOLUTION: This method comprises washing a bristle 1 for a cutter by treating fiber wastes adhered to the bristle 1 using a chemical agent which has the ability to dissolve, decompose or deteriorate such fibers; more precisely, this method comprises the following practice: specifically, when such fiber wastes contain wool material, a bristle 1 stuck with the fiber wastes is soaked in an aqueous solution containing at least one compound selected from sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, sodium silicate and potassium silicate. and then subjected to agitation treatment, whereby the fiber wastes entangled on and fixed to the needles of the bristle 1 are readily and nearly entirely removed.
