PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively protect the occupants when necessary without giving physical disorder when the possibility of the rear end collision on a self-vehicle is detected by a rear end collision predicting means. SOLUTION: A seat belt device for a vehicle comprising a control means 9 for controlling a pretensioner 6 for taking-up a seat belt to act when the possibility of the rear end collision of a self-vehicle is detected by a rear end collision predicting means 7, comprises a backing-up detecting means 16 for detecting that the self-vehicle is in a backing-up state, and a restricting means 15 for restricting the operation of the pretensioner 6 when the backing-up state of the self-vehicle is detected by the backing-up detecting means 16. |
