<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying a coke oven gas capable of removing H2S, COS, 2-4C unsaturated hydrocarbons and O2 among impurities contained in a coke oven gas by plural steps and efficiently and simply removing the impurities so as to remove impurities having an undesirable influence on a step at the downstream side by a step at the upstream side. SOLUTION: Oxygen and 2-4C unsaturated hydrocarbons are hydrogenated into H2O and corresponding saturated hydrocarbons by a first step, HCN and COS are decomposed in the presence of steam and H2 by a second step, NH3 is absorbed in water, stripped, mixed with air and subjected to oxidative decomposition into N2 and H2O by a third step, biological sulfur is recovered from H2S by an aerobic bacterium or scavenged by an alkanolamine and sulfuric acid, and gypsum and elemental sulfur are recovered from released H2S as an S source.</p> |
