PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new aromatic diamine compound having a polyfluorinated substituent capable of obtaining a polyimide having low dielectric constant, low refractive index, low birefringence and excellent resistances to humidity and heat, and useful for printed wiring board, interlayer insulating film for LSI, optical parts or the like. SOLUTION: This compound is a compound represented by formula I (l and m are each 0-4; n is 0-5; with the proviso l+m+n>=1). For example, 4,4'- dinitro-3"-trifluoromethyltriphenylamine. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting, for example, an aniline derivative of formula II (p is 0-5) and a nitrohalobenzene of formula III (q is 0-4; X is F, Cl or Br), in an organic solvent, in the presence of cesium fluoride, at 30-250 deg.C, preferably at 50-180 deg.C for 0.5-24 hours, and reducing the obtained dinitro compound.
