摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To finely control an injection rate during an injection period and to reduce NOx and fuel consumption by continuously changing the mass flow of the fuel flowing into a nozzle hole at a change pattern corresponding to the operating condition of an engine so that the fuel injection rate is increased as time elapses during the injection period. SOLUTION: During the operation of an engine 1, an engine controller 6 determines the fuel injection quantity and fuel injection rate to converge the actual revolving speed of the engine 1 to a target revolving speed and injects the fuel fed from a fuel injection pump 11 through a fuel injection pipe 12 from an injection nozzle 7 according to the determined fuel injection quantity. The engine controller 6 outputs a signal indicating the injection rate pattern P corresponding to the determined fuel injection rate to a vibrating element controller 9 and continuously changes the fuel injection rate so that the fuel injection rate is increased as time elapses during the injection period. The cylinder internal pressure is gradually increased as combustion progresses, and an excess fuel feed is suppressed to reduce NOx and fuel consumption.
