摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce carbon material which has a polyyne and/or cumulene structure in its main chain skeleton and is highly controlled in the structure at a high yield by acting Mg or Mg alloy on an aromatic hydrocarbon derivative in the presence of an Li salt and/or halogen atom in an aprotic solvent. SOLUTION: At least one of the aromatic hydrocarbons having the halogen atom and the carbon derivative having the halogen atom is used as raw material and is reacted for 0.5 to 100 hours at temperature ranging from -10 to 50 deg.C by adding the Mg or Mg alloy thereto under stirring in the presence of the Li salt and/or metallic halogen compound in the aprotic solvent using a hermetically sealable reaction vessel. The carbon material having the polyyne structure expressed by formula (-C≡C-)n (n is 2 to 1000000) and/or the cumulene structure expressed by formula (=C=C=)n (n is 2 to 1000000) in part or the whole of the main chain skeleton is obtained as the reaction product.
