PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for easily thickening a liquid detergent composition without using a thickener while keeping excellent performance of the composition such as low stimulation, high frothing property, good feeling in use and low-temperature stability. SOLUTION: This liquid detergent composition contains an anionic surfactant containing at least an aliphatic acylamino acid-based anionic surfactant and an amphoteric surfactant at a weight ratio of anionic surfactant/amphoteric surfactant of 9/1 to 2/8. The viscosity of the composition takes a peak in the pH range of 4.00-7.00 when the pH of the composition is changed by adding a pH modifier. The pH of the composition is within±0.70 based on the pH corresponding to the viscosity peak. At the same time, the viscosity of the composition is >=300 mPa.s at 25 deg.C.
