PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily execute measurement at a position avoiding a measurement disturbing part such as an opacity by relatively moving a measuring instrument with respect to an eye to be inspected, detecting the part which disturbs the passage of light reflected from the eyeground on the basis of the output signal of a photodetector and driving and controlling a moving means according to the detection result. SOLUTION: Unless an amount of light being greater than a prescribed threshold is received by the photodetector 15a' within the range of angles fromθa toθb, the existence of an opacity part 70 in the range is recognized, which is a main cause to prevent measurement light from passing the eyeball. In this case, the opacity part 70 is most efficiently avoided when a measurement optical system is moved in the direction of an angleθc which is opposite to the center angle of the anglesθa toθb. Then a control part obtains the angleθc and a measurement part is XY-moved with an alignment end position as reference. Thus, the control part automatically starts measurements after moving the measuring part relatively to the eye to be inspected. Therefore, measurement by avoiding a measurement error is attained even when the measurement disturbance part exists in the eye to be inspected.
