PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel consumption and startability, suppress the generation of unburned gas in a low/intermediate speed region, and reduce a content of NOx in exhaust gas, by smoothly transferring heat to suppress thermal deformation of an auxiliary chamber, and eliminating local overheat of an eddy current, while ensuring fluidity of air and combustion gas. SOLUTION: A tip end part 16a of a fuel injection nozzle 16 is made to face to an auxiliary chamber, a position of main/auxiliary chamber side openings 40a, 40b of a communication hole 40 is displaced when it is viewed in a cylinder center axial direction, so as to generate an eddy current in the auxiliary chamber by a new air current flowing in it from a main combustion chamber side in a compression stroke, and a plurality of the communication holes 40 are provided, and in respective these holes, the center line of the communication hole 40 is displaced from the center O1 of the auxiliary chamber, as viewed in the cylinder center direction, and further the auxiliary chamber side opening 40b is displaced to a side of the main combustion chamber side opening from an intersection of a normal and a center line, when the normal is drawn from the center O1 of the auxiliary chamber in the center line.
