PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control panel assembly for microwave oven having beautiful appearance which can be operated easily and handled conveniently by anybody. SOLUTION: The control panel assembly 3 comprises a front panel section 10 where simple keys for first and second cooking modes comprising several simple function keys for selecting functions being used frequently in first and second cooking modes are arranged on the opposite sides of an elongated central hole, a switch 20 disposed movably to the opposite sides while following up the elongated hole in the front panel section 10, and a mode change switch 30 making a different contact as the switch 20 moves, wherein the first or second cooking mode is selected automatically by moving the switch 20 to either side and the simple key of only selected mode is exposed to the outside and operated.
