PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle developer ejecting type image forming apparatus wherein a plurality of dots are formed on a recording medium with respect to each through-hole and desired image quality can be obtained even when a time period for forming one dot is short. SOLUTION: There is disclosed an image forming apparatus wherein a voltage for urging a developer on a developer carrying body 12 toward a rear face electrode is applied to an individual electrode 36, the developer is ejected through a hole 34 to be adhered to a recording medium 28 provided between a partition wall 26 and the rear face electrode and a voltage for changing the flying direction of the developer is applied to a deflecting electrode 40, then the adhered position of the developer on the recording medium is changed. The voltage to be applied to the deflecting electrode 40 consists of a first pulse for urging the developer toward a pixel to be printed (e.g. 501) and a second pulse applied following the first pulse for urging the developer to the reverse direction of the direction forwarding the adjacent pixel (e.g. 502) for making the developer adhere from the pixel to be formed next time.
