PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new peptide specifically binding with a specific interleukin and inhibiting its physiological activities, having cysteine residues at the both terminals of the amino acid sequence specifically binding to the above interleukin and useful for the prevention and treatment of autoimmune diseases, myeloma, etc. SOLUTION: This peptide binds specifically with interleukin-6(IL-6), inhibits its physiological activities and has cysteine residues at the both terminals of the amino acid sequence specifically binding with the IL-6, e.g. a peptide of the formula: GlyGlyCysLysLeuTrpThrIleProGlnCysGlyGly. The peptide is obtained by selecting a peptide specifically binding with the IL-6 from a phage library, and directly adding cysteine residues to the N-terminal side and C- terminal side of the peptide by a chemical synthetic method using a peptide synthesizer based on the above amino acid sequence information.
