PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a centrifugal used for centrifuging biological material which is provided with a chamber, a rotor arranging in the chamber, a means for subjecting the rotor to rotary driving and a means for cooling the atmosphere in the chamber. SOLUTION: A means for cooling the atmosphere in a chamber has a Rankine vortex tube 30, and a low temperature outlet 33 of the Rankine vortex tube 30 communicates with an inlet 66 of the chamber, and an inlet 32 of the Rankine vortex tube 30 communicates with a pressurizing gas feed circuit communicating with a pressurizing gas source 49.
