PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject foam easy to produce and recyclable, excellent in adsorption performance and immobilization and propagation promoting capacities for microorganisms, and to have appropriate strength and impact absorbing performance. SOLUTION: Plastic foam for adsorption composed of a plastic containing charcoal powder and bubbles is manufactured. Since the plastic foam is incorporated with charcoal powder, it is useful as a microorganism immobilizing carrier by the adsorption of charcoal and as a pollutant adsorbing material. The powder of BINCHO charcoal, a kind of white charcoal, is used as the charcoal powder. The amount of charcoal powder to be added is 1-40 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the plastic.
