PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymeric latex excellent in coloring properties and surface strength in a pressure-sensitive copying paper. SOLUTION: This monomer comprises 40-80 wt.% of aliphatic conjugated diolefinic monomer, 10-45 wt.% of vinyl cyanide monomer, 0-10 wt.% of ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, and 0-50 wt.% of another olefinic monomer which is copolymerizable with them. In this case in the presence of a copolymeric latex obtained by polymerizing 15-85 pts.wt. of a monomer mixture (A) of glass-transition temperature lower than -10 deg.C of a copolymer obtained by polymerization thereof, 85-15 pts.wt. of monomer mixture (B) having glass-transition temperature of at least 0 deg.C of a copolymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer comprising, 15-50 wt.% of an aliphatic conjugated diolefinic monomer, 1-45 wt.% of ethilenically unsaturated carboxylic monomer and 5-84 wt.% of another olephenic monomer copolymerizable with those monomers, is polymerized [(A)+(B)=100 pts.wt.] to obtain a latex for pressure-sensitive copying paper, and the coating composition for the pressure-sensitive paper comprises the above latex. |
