PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve detection accuracy by providing the bran treating section with a bran detecting plate, which shields the space in a bran transfer trough for transferring the bran generated in rice milling work across a bran screw above a bran discharge port disposed in the bottom of the bran transfer trough and turns in a bran transportation direction around its top end side, and detecting the turning of this bran detecting plate. SOLUTION: The bran, etc., generated at the time of rice polishing of grains are stored in a bran storage hopper and are transported to the bran treating section 11 through a bran transporting route, etc., by the suction and blast effect of a bran fan and is recovered into bran bags 18a and 18b through a cyclone 15, the bran screw 16 and a bran discharge port 17a. When the bran stored in the bran bag 18b on a transportation terminal side overflows from the bran discharge port 17b with the progression of the rice milling work, the bran detecting plate 19a is pressed to the bran and is turned to the transportation terminal side. When the plate turns at a prescribed angle or above, the plate pushes a push rod 19d, thereby turning on a limit switch 19c. A bran spiral drive motor 16a is stopped by the on action of this limit switch 19c.
