PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the plate-releasing operation, the new master processing operation and the like in the case a processing switch is turned on erroneously, prevent the wasteful consumption of the master and eliminate the waste of reading a draft and restarting the processing of the master. SOLUTION: In a printer, when a processing switch is turned on erroneously after a master is wound on a plate cylinder, whether the printing of numbers of prints set by a printing number setting means is completed or not is judged by a printing completion judging means (S18). When the printing is not completed, a plate-release operation and a new master release operation are controlled by a release and process control means (S21).
