Disclosed is (4R-cis)-1,1-dimethylethyl-6-iodomethyl- -2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4-acetate of the general formula (II); process of the synthesis thereof; which process can be characterised in reacting a compound of the general formula (II) representing a phenyl group substituted by one or two substituents selected from halogen or nitro, with an alk. iodine in a solvent at 0 degrees Celsius up to a backflow of the used solvent; 6-aryl-sulfonyloxymethyl intermediates of the general formula (II) wherein Ar is as defined, for the production of the formula (III) compounds.
